Southern Alberta Hate Crimes Workshop

The Organization for the Prevention of Violence (OPV), the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, and the National Canadian Chiefs of Police – Hate Crime Task Force, supported by the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police wish to thank participating members for attending the Southern Alberta Hate Crime Workshop. This event was designed for Alberta front-line police, intelligence, security services, government and supporting civilian staff. The goal of the workshop was to ensure that attending members possess a foundational understanding of this distinct form of criminal offending, its connection to violent extremism, its impacts on victims and their broader communities, and to share evidence-based recommendations for operational and investigative best practice.

A special thank you to the Calgary Police Service Hate Crimes Unit, their team and their executive leadership for in kind space, logistical support, and presenters. Also, thank you to RCMP INSET and Calgary Police Service Counter Terrorism Team for their contributions.
